August 2008
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to school! We hope you and your child had a fun-filled summer. We are excited about the new school year and the opportunity to work with your child to make this year fun and educational. One of the areas on which we will be focusing this year will be learning to work cooperatively. Using a community set of supplies will be an integral part of this focus. This means that all students will share all supplies. In order to avoid conflict and hurt feelings, we are asking for very specific items so that materials will look the same at each table. Please, do not put your child’s name on any supplies unless specified below. We prefer that you bring your supplies to the A.C.E. orientation on Tuesday, August 5th at 7:00 p.m., or you may bring them on the first day of school.
Supplies:
Also, during the first week of school we will be doing several activities related to the book If You Take a Mouse to School. Your child will receive a copy of this book at the Kindergarten Screening Day on August 1st; please read this book prior to the first day of school. Also, there is a recommended summer reading list in the Kindergarten calendar that you received when you registered your child for school. Please try to read some of those books this summer. J
We are very excited to see all of you and plan on making this a great year together!

August 2008
Dear Fourth Grade Parents and Students,
Welcome back to school! We hope you had a fun-filled summer. We are looking forward to working with each of you during the upcoming year.
To ensure that your child is prepared for the school year, below is a supply list of the materials he or she will need to begin the year. Some of these supplies will be community supplies, so please do not write your child’s name on each item. Simply place all the items in a plastic bag and write your child’s name on the outside. Feel free to bring them to the Back to School Night on August 5th.
Again, we are looking forward to our year together!
Sincerely, Fourth Grade Teachers

August 2008
Dear Parents, Welcome to 5th grade at Athens-Chilesburg Elementary! We are your 5th grade team and we look so forward to meeting all of you! We also look forward to a wonderful, collaborative partnership with you concerning the preparation of your child for middle school. That preparation starts with the tools necessary to succeed. Below you will find our fifth grade supply list. You may notice that a couple of things are denoted as “homework” items. These are things that your child will need to have at home to complete homework. We have these items at school as well, but they get used from year to year and need to stay in the building. There are a couple of things that you will need to purchase, however we do not yet have the official prices for these items. The items are a student agenda planner and a periodical newspaper. As soon as we have the cost information, we’ll pass it on to you. Again, we look so forward to getting to know your child and working with each of you!
